Social Responsibility / Crown Goes Green

Crown understands the key to commercial success hinges on not just its direct business practices but its impact on the surrounding environment. Since the company’s inception in the early seventies Crown has embraced diversity, civic responsibility and a relentless commitment to employee development. These attitudes have underpinned our corporate philosophy which is constantly evolving to meet the dynamic business environment in which we operate. In recent years with the advent of global warming and increasing concerns about sustainability Crown has looked to minimize its external long term ecological impact. From the humble beginning of recycling paper and plastics Crown has now built a six person strong “Green Team” whose green efforts have been richly rewarded with the company certifying as a Green Business in December 2009.

This award was given to Crown by the Bay Area Green Business Program after an extensive inspection process involving a number of local and government agencies.

Crown also joined the Spare the Air Program, which is aimed at improving the air quality in the Bay Area, further pledging its commitment to sustainable environmentally friendly operations.

Beyond California our civic engagements include sending several containers of furniture and supplies to orphanages in numerous countries such as; Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala. Furthermore Crown extends the reach of its efforts to employees and suppliers with annual educational programs whilst choosing fellow green vendors.
