Fast and Efficient Blimps to Deliver Supplies to Arctic Communities by 2014

Discover Air Innovations, a specialty aviation solutions company, is partnering with Hybrid Air Vehicles in the development of a helium-fueled blimp to supply oil rigs, mines, and other communities in the Arctic. Many lack roads to the rest of civilization and rely on expensive airplane runways for supply deliveries. DAI and HAV believe that their airships, designed to carry up to 50 tons and take off and land from water, snow, ice and gravel, will be more efficient and less expensive than current modes of delivery.
